FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What makes Waymaker™ Pecans different?
We grow our pecans with a focus on healthy soil, healthy plants, and healthy food. Rather than simply reducing conventional inputs, our goal is to build, diversify, and protect the biology already at work in our orchards.
We use practices like compost, compost extract, cover crops, and natural products to work with the biological systems God designed in creation. Our pecans are grown on our family farm in South Georgia, harvested with care, and sold directly to you so you can know where your food comes from and how it was grown.
2. Where are your pecans grown?
Every Waymaker™ pecan is grown on our family farm in Pelham, Georgia. We have two pecan orchards totaling 90 acres—one 20-acre orchard and one 70-acre orchard, located just a few miles apart. We planted our first pecan trees in 2021 as first-generation farmers and manage our orchards ourselves from the soil beneath the trees all the way to harvest.
When you buy Waymaker™ Pecans, you’re buying pecans grown by our family—not pecans sourced from other growers and packaged under our name.
3. What varieties of pecans do you grow?
Our orchards include Creek, Lakota, and Caddo pecan trees. We keep our pecans variety-specific rather than blending them together because each variety has its own unique characteristics.
Our current offerings feature Creek and Lakota pecans, available as both halves and pieces. As our Caddo trees continue to mature and begin producing a harvestable crop, we look forward to offering Caddo pecans in the future as well.
4. What is the difference between Creek and Lakota pecans?
Just like different varieties of apples or peaches, pecan varieties can differ in size, appearance, texture, and flavor.
Creek and Lakota are two distinct varieties grown in our orchards, and we package them separately so you can experience each one for yourself. There isn’t necessarily a “better” variety—part of the fun is finding the one you prefer.
5. What does “Regeneratively Grown” mean?
For us, regenerative agriculture starts with the soil.
Instead of viewing our orchards simply as trees that need to be supplied with inputs, we look at them as living ecosystems. Our goal is to improve soil function, encourage biological diversity, keep living roots in the ground through cover crops, recycle nutrients, and continually build a healthier system.
We believe agriculture works best when we work with the Creator’s design rather than against it.
6. What does Regenerative Verified™ mean?
Regenerative Verified™ through Soil Regen provides independent verification that our commitment to regenerative agriculture goes deeper than words.
The program uses soil sampling, independent laboratory testing, and expert review to evaluate biological activity, nutrient availability, and other indicators of a living, functioning soil ecosystem. Farms must meet verification criteria and undergo continued testing and recertification to track progress over time.
For us, verification provides accountability and measurable evidence that the changes we’re making in our orchards are actually improving the soil.
7. Do you use conventional fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides?
For our 2026 growing season, we grew our pecans without conventional fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides.
Instead, our program focuses on practices and inputs designed to build, diversify, or protect the biology we’ve invested in—including composted poultry manure, compost extract, cover crops, mineral nutrition, and natural products.
We believe the best long-term approach is to continue building healthier, more resilient orchards from the soil up.
8. Are Waymaker™ Pecans organic?
No. Waymaker™ Pecans are not currently certified organic, and we don’t represent them as organic.
Our focus is regenerative agriculture and building a biologically active, functioning soil ecosystem. We view every input we use through the same lens: Does this build, diversify, or protect the biological investment we’ve made in our orchards? That question helps guide the decisions we make as we work to grow pecans in a way that supports the soil, the trees, and the entire orchard ecosystem.
9. How should I store my pecans?
Because pecans contain natural oils, proper storage helps protect their flavor and freshness.
For short-term use, keep them sealed in a cool, dry place. For longer storage, we recommend keeping your pecans refrigerated or frozen in an airtight container. Pecans freeze very well, so you can enjoy them over time without sacrificing quality.
10. Is shipping included in the price?
Yes. We want ordering Waymaker™ Pecans to be simple, so standard shipping within the contiguous United States is included in the price of our online pecan products unless otherwise noted.
The price you see is designed to make it easy to know what you’re paying without calculating an additional standard shipping charge at checkout.
11. Do you offer corporate and customer gifting?
Absolutely. Waymaker™ Pecans were made to be given.
Our gift boxes are a meaningful way to thank customers, employees, vendors, friends, family, or anyone you want to show appreciation to. Each gift is packed with care and can be shipped directly to the recipient.
For businesses sending multiple gifts, contact us about larger orders and shipping to multiple addresses.
We believe a good gift should do more than check a box—it should communicate gratitude and remind someone that every good gift ultimately comes from the Giver of everything.
12. Why the name Waymaker™ and why do you give 10% of every bag?
Waymaker™ is rooted in our faith.
Our farming journey has taught us that God has already made a way in His creation. The more we’ve learned about the soil, plants, microorganisms, and the relationships between them, the more we’ve seen the wisdom built into what He created. Our job is to steward it well and trust His way—even when we can’t see exactly where the road ahead leads.
That same truth has been evident in our own lives and family. God has made a way for us in seasons when we couldn’t see one ourselves.
That’s also why 10% of every bag of Waymaker™ Pecans sold supports Good Samaritan Counseling, a Christian ministry that has made a meaningful difference in our own lives. We want what God has entrusted to our family and farm to become an opportunity to give back, help others, and ultimately point people to Christ.
As James 1:17 reminds us, “Every good and perfect gift is from above.”
